Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland
These past 48 hours here in Salt Lake City, Utah have yielded an abundance of white, powdery condensation commonly known as snow. Now here's the strange part: I'm torn between bitterness and adoration for all this blasted precipitation!! First, I'll provide valid reasons for my differing opinions. Then YOU, all my faithful readers, can offer me advice as to which opinion I should take upon myself for the duration of this snowy period.
Option Numero Uno: Bitterness
I'm sure everyone here has heard the song "I'm Dreamin' of a White Christmas," so I'll spare you a particularly drawn out rendition. But just tell me, did Mother Earth ever hear that song? And if she did, why doesn't she feel the same? Doesn't she dream of beautiful hills of snow in your front yard... icicles hanging off your front porch... fluffly white flakes descending from the heavens on Christmas Eve? Because I darn well do! And frankly, this year she did not represent that dream for me or any others in Utah who were hoping for the same. Instead, she took a lovely vacation back to September!
Now, I can deal with no snow on Christmas... it's a common occurence in Utah, as I'm sure you've all noticed. But what gets me... what REALLY gets me is that the DAY I return to school-- the day I have to leave the comfort of my home and walk unsheltered across campus-- she brings back the cold. And snow. And ice. It's the winter wonderland I wanted, oh, say four weeks ago! But now? So I'm a little bitter. No snow on Christmas= upset Brookie. Walking in snow and getting my pants soaked up to the thigh= upset Brookie. Snow falling on my hair that makes it frizz like your grandmother's wig= upset Brookie. Basically, I'm pretty upset.
Option Number Two: Adoration
I love the snow! I love playing in it, looking at it, and even smelling it!! I love how it falls so delicately on the ground and the trees, and I love seeing how it makes everything look like some holiday greeting card or frosted gingerbread house from my childhood dreams! I absolutely adore the snow!
Obviously, this option of adoration is a little more simple in nature. But do you see where I'm coming from?! Surely many of you must feel the same! So let me know what you think! And since I can't think on my own, let me know what belief I should pick for myself. And while you're at it, gimme a cup 'o cocoa! Mmmmmm....
By the way, these are pictures I just took of the snow-covered outside world. I can see both trees from my window! Tee hee!
