I'm a Lily!

You Are A Lily

You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist.

People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you.

You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words.

Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize.

It's Snowing!!

I just thought I'd write in and let you all know a few details about what's happenin' at the moment!

1. It's snowing like crazy outside, and I am absolutely loving it! Somehow it reminds me of being a ten year old again... just dying to throw on those snowpants, grab my sled, and find the nearest hill for hours upon hours of ridiculous fun! I absolutely love the snow, and wintertime, and Christmastime, and watching the snow fall outside my window like there's no tomorrow!

2. A few days ago, I finally jumped on the Apple bandwagon. I downloaded iTunes, and now I'm practically addicted to the Harry Potter debate podcast called Mugglecast done by some HP sleuths from Mugglenet.com. It's absolutely amazing! They discuss and debate and over-analyze EVERYTHING Harry Potter, and it's Beautiful!

3. And while we're on the Harry Potter subject, I just realized yesterday that I am a serious Harry Potter addict. It's true, and I don't care. I love it.

4. I just dowloaded the Michael Buble "Let it Snow" album from iTunes! I know I've said it a thousand times, but I'll say it again... Michael Buble's voice caresses me to my very soul!

5. Christmas is in 26 days! I have so much shopping to do, but I seriously cannot wait for Christmas to be here... I wouldn't care if it were tomorrow!! This snow is just putting me in the BEST MOOD EVER!! I need some hot chocolate...

I Wish I were a Brit

I just saw an episode of Friends lately that just makes me laugh so hard every time I think about it, so I just thought I'd share the fun with the rest of the world!! Just in case you were wondering, this is Episode 3 from Season 10. Anyways, Monica and Phoebe used to have a friend named Amanda who lived where Joey lives. But she moved to England ten years ago, and she's come back with a fake accent and a hilarious attitude. Here are a few of the BEST lines from that episode:

Amanda: Feel my abs! (Phoebe and Monica reach over to feel her stomach) I don't work out at all! Smell my neck! (Again, they both begin to take a whiff, but she cuts them off.) Do you like it? It's me! I'm not wearing any perfume. It's my own natural scent!
Phoebe: Smells musty!

Then Monica gets a phone call from Chandler and pretends he's gotten in an accident so she has an excuse to leave the "party" that is Amanda.

LATER...
Amanda is over at Monica's and Chandler's and she turns to him and says,
Amanda: That accident must have been terrible! You look positively ghastly!
Chandler: Well aren't YOU a treat?

Monica and Phoebe walk in from the hallway to see Amanda dancing like a mad-woman for Chandler.
Amanda: Can you believe I've never had any professional dance lessons?!

LATER...
Chandler walks into Joey's apartment and says,
Chandler: That British woman is a [beast], but she sure can dance!

Okay, so maybe this wasn't as amusing to you all as it was to me, but whatever. Take it or leave it, buckos! J'entends le Moulin! Just kidding! Peace out!

Quidditch: It's a trav-sham-ockery!

Ok, so I don't know if you're all sick and tired of me ranting about the trav-sham-ockery that is Quidditch, but here it comes again! Ok, so upon further discussion of the whole ridiculous "sport" portrayed in the Harry Potter series, I have developed a near-perfect equivalent scenario for the modern-day muggle. Here it goes:

Picture yourself on a soccer team. A really really really good soccer team. You are an amazing player... one of the best... but rather than one goal, you've got three randomly-placed circular goals you could possibly shoot for, each worth ten points. That keeper (a.k.a. "Goalie" for all the unknowledgable Americans, but still "Keeper" in Harry Potter language) on the other team sure does have his work cut out for him. Not to mention the psychos with ping-pong paddles (a.k.a. "Beater's Bats") trying their hardest to attack you from all sides with their Ping-pong balls of Doom (a.k.a. "Bludgers") while at the same time attempting to protect their teammates from said punishment from the opposing team!! So anyways, you're playing your heart out, you're stealing the ball (a.k.a. Quaffle), you're shooting for the goals, you're doin' some damage... but really NONE OF IT MATTERS! Oh no, this is NOT your game... this is the game for THE SEEKER (a.k.a. Harry Potter)!!!! The seeker is the one who wins the glory, not you. Duh. The seeker has one job to do, and when it is done, that seeker (and consequently that team) is granted one hundred and fifty freakin' points, and the game is over! But what is this daunting task the that the "seeker" must complete for the grand finale of the game? What is this amazing feat of talent that is completed for the sake of ETERNal GLoRY? He simply must catch a super bouncy ball (a.k.a. The Golden Snitch) that is bouncing amok around the soccer field (within the limitations of the field, mind you). In total, you have an entire team of highly trained "athletes" all running around supposedly trying to accomplish something by making goals. But it all is a sham, because the moment that SuperBall is caught by that madman running around in little girl's pajamas the game is over, and Really... Really... unless the other team was up by more than one hundred and fifty points, the catching of the superball determines the winner. Think about it. The whole concept of quiddtich is a complete mockery of any real sport out there, expept perhaps caber-tossing... but Don't even GEt me STarteD!

In conclusion, I thought I'd share with you all an excerpt from Rolling Stone magazine that features an interview with Daniel Radcliffe (a.k.a. Harry Potter):

Interviewer: Do you find Quidditch as boring as I do?
Daniel: Oh, it's not fun to film, man. It's not fun. I actually read an interview with J.K. Rowling, and she was saying, "I find Quidditch really tedious to write," and we were all, "We find it really tedious to film! Stop writing it!"

AMEN.

Pop-Ups!

Can I just tell you all how much I HATE all the stinkin' pop-ups that attempt to commandeer my computer screen?! Ahhhhhhh! I even got a new spy-ware program that is supposed to protect me from harmful things like this (isn't it?)! My pop-up blocker is on, it's supposed to be working, I have McAfee antivirus protection, Ad-Aware protects me against spy-ware... but still I am scared for my poor little computer's life! For heaven's sake! If ANYONE knows how to protect one's self from this horrendous display of over-the-top commercialism, PLEASE let me know!!! Ahhhhhh! I am ready to kill, I tell you! Kill!

And now I'm nearly headed home for a good 'ol Thanksgiving! Also I am having a low-key party tonight featuring the playing of "The Polar Express" that my friend Ryan bought me yesterday as an early Christmas present! I'm not sure how late this little shindig will run though as my step-dad is kind of a Nazi when it comes to curfew and having people out of the house. But I hope all will turn out well, and I won't be too embarrassed with the state of things or anything. Ok, well I'll write to you later!

Sincerely,
Brookie

The Thanksgiving Dilemma

I just thought I'd update you all on my Thanksgiving crisis. Every year for as long as I can remember, my family has celebrated Thanksgiving at my (mom's mom) Grandma Longmore's house. Does that make sense? Anyways, we have always had it there except for that one year they were on their couple mission in Denver, Colordado, but even then we celebrated it with them early so we still had it. But this year, for some strange reason, my grandma and grandpa have decided against hosting it at their home, or even on that side of the family at all! So now the only Thanksgiving dinner I have available to me is the one on my step-dad's side of the family. I mean, I have known the people for like a year and a half... but it's still awkward, and I don't really have that many friends on that side of the family since they're all way old or way young. And last year their yams weren't exactly "up to snuff." I am really picky about my sweet potatoes. All in all, I was really looking forward to this Thursday until I found out the sad news, but I suppose I shall just have to deal with it. A few friends have even offered to let me come to their family's Thanksgivings, but I think I'd be just as uncomfortable around a whole bunch of people I don't know. I also do not wish to impose on anyone's family... But I guess I shall keep it in mind.

No matter what, I am resolved to be Thankful for the things I have been blessed with: my family, my amazing friends (Michelle and Jessica and Jodi and everyone else not personally named, I love you! ), my opportunity to go to the U this semester (even if I am going to lose my scholarship and have to move home and start working at the local Burger King when it's over), all the hot men in the world that I can stare at for hours, Harry Potter EVERYTHING, my home, my clothes, all the provided necessities of life, MY LIFE, and EVERYTHING ELSE! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A LONG Post

Alas, it has been a while since my last update. I suppose this post can simply be the summary of my doings of this past weekend. Well, on Friday morning at midnight, I went to see the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire... oh my goodness... simply amazing! As the University Chronicle pointed out, this movie compared to its book counterpart sucked. But of course when compared to its movie brethren, this one is simply brilliant. I loved it even though it was extremely rushed and there was not enough time to even show some real class time. I mean, they go to school for a whole year, but the only time the movie even showed them in class was when Moody told them about the Unforgivable Curses. But then that scene stirred me emotionally because I felt so bad for Neville. After this movie, can I just tell you all that I absolutely love Neville. I think this was a really big moment for him, and I just can't wait for the scene in the fifth book when he visits his parents in St. Mungo's to be brought to the big screen. It will again be one of those defining moments for his character. I was really happy with the results of the whole Ron/Hermione thing. Hermione really did enjoy herself, and it really showed Ron that she is a girl and would like to be treated as one. The "Ron-Getting-Jealous" thing was beautiful, as I am an avid Ron/Hermione believer. And I am also extremely happy that they played the "Magic Works" song from the Soundtrack while Ron and Hermione were fighting rather than while Hermione would be dancing with Krum. If you haven't heard it, you definitely should. It's beautiful. But then again I am just a silly girl.

After the movie, I promptly went home for a 3 hour "nap" before I had to get up at 7 to study for a math quiz that I know I failed. At least after the quiz, I was able to go to the Marriot Library for a lovely power nap between that class and Chemistry. After classes were over, Michelle and I took Trax down to Sandy ("Sandy Civic Center. Ten thousand South. The end of the line. As far as we go." Tee hee!) where I met my sister Kendra. We had an hour to kill before she had to be at Bingham High School to play in the pit during their musical. We went to Target where I found the most amazing Christmas socks: they have Christmas lights winding all over them until they spell out the word "Meow," and then there is this picture of an evil cat on my socks! No seriously! I saw them, and I just thought, "I MUST have these Christmas/Evil Feline socks!" After that I went with her to watch BHS's rendition of the play "Guys and Dolls" which was absolutely spectacular. Jeremy Dowse and Stephanie Purcell were amazing, and I am pretty much in love with Jeremy now. I told him so, but I don't think he really believed me. Whoever I marry will be musical, I can tell you that much... a guy who can sing really just goes up on the hotness scale like a thousand points. Anyways, that was a ton of fun.

Afterwards, Michelle and Adam and I didn't know what we wanted to do, even though we were all so tired from the serious lack of sleep from the night before. So we went to Michelle's house to have some hot chocolate and toast, and guess who should show up but David- Michelle's brother who is like a human sponge when it comes to anything trivial and/or related to artillery/guns. So here's a little shout out to Dave if he ever happens to read this entry: "Hey man, thanks for teaching me those sweet moves. I totally punched a little old grandma today, all thanks to you! Just kidding!" Then Melissa, Michelle's sister came home dressed as Mary Poppins, for what I'm not sure. But she looked pretty sweet. Well, to end this whole long narrative of Friday, let's just say I let them all "entertain" me until nearly 1:30 in the morning, when I was nearly passed out on their kitchen counter. Oh, but I DID get to see Melissa perched like a juvenile Japanese thug on their other kitchen counter. That made it all worth it! Thanks Melishka!

On to Saturday...
Today I actually did NOT wake up at the crack of noon... oh, no. I woke up at 1:38 pm. It was a beautiful thing, except for the fact that I missed the kick-off of the U of U/BYU game at 1! So anyways, I came upstairs to already find it was on, and my step-dad had left, knowing that I'd be there watching the game... he didn't want to interfere with my devilistic rituals known as cheering for the "RED" team. He went to his dads house and came home shortly after they LOST! hahahjahahashahhahaha! Oh man, that really was an intense game. When I joined the fun, the U was already up by 14 points! I just loved seeing that half-time score of 24-Utah, 3-BYU. It was again a beautiful thing. BYU actually did start to bring it during the third quarter, and I started to get nervous. The 4th quarter really scared me at one point. But Overtime was amazing. Simply amazing. I could hardly believe it! I started running around my family room shouting... when did I turn into my step-dad cheering for any kind of BYU sport? It was a really strange moment of self-realization for me. I'll never be the same.

After this I went to the school play yet again because it was fabulatastic! Then I went cosmic bowling my with my 16-yr.-old sister Kendra, and I somehow scored a 101! Can you believe it? I could hardly believe it! That's the only time in my sad bowling history that I've ever broken one hundred on my bowling score. My second game was really good too, although I only scored a 98... :)! We then went out for shakes to celebrate our amazing bowling scores. (Kendra's were 62 and 86. Way to go!) We got some strawberry shakes at McD's, and then stayed up talking until nearly two in the morning. I love that girl!

Then today I went to Devan Turner's mission farewell, and I had so much fun seeing everyone! Natalie Wilmore was finally there, and I think that's the first time I've even seen that girl since graduation! The food was great, we had quite a few laughs, my friend Crowsh stepped in some dog poo, and Devan gave me the biggest hug I think I've ever had. It was amazing! His mom is throwing a going-away party for him on Saturday night, and I am definitely going to that... it'll be the last time I see him for two years... I can hardly believe it! I'm not sure the exact day he leaves, but he's going to Copenhagen, Denmark, and I honestly hopes he has the time of his life. I know he's been looking forward to this for a really long time.

Okay, well I'm sure I have bored you all to tears, but I just had to get that all out. Thanks for your time if you really did read all that. I love you all a bunch, whomever you may be!

Love,
Brookie

Christmas is Early!

Dear Children, Pets, and/or Old People that may be reading this,

This year Christmas has come early. Yes, it's true, and it is of course 100 percent guaranteed. As of November 1st, 2005, Brookie has been listening to Christmas music via the internet. This is because the only radio station that actually plays Christmas music this early is KOSY 106.5 FM, and to listen to that is to put up with Delilah. (Okay, switching back to first person mode) I personally think someone should shoot Delilah and put us all out of our misery! She is the most annoying woman on earth, and her "wisdom" is a whole boatful of trash in the form of flowery language and smooth talking. Getting back to the point, I have started listening to Christmas music early this year which plays on FM 100's website. They don't actually play it on the radio yet since they know that most people aren't as "Christmas-y" as I am. So there's a separate link that you can check out if that suits you, and you don't even have to be a local to listen... the best part is the clear streaming that you can only get from an internet music source without the static of normal radio stations! Ok, so here's that link (FM 100 Christmas Music) if for some reason you feel being as festive as I am is appropriate for you, whomever you may be. And just in case you were wondering, Christmas is in 39 days!

Now, my roommate Michelle tells me that Thanksgiving feels bad because I'm not even giving it a chance. Let's not go too far. A holiday where I can eat as much as I want and not feel bad about it? No way am I passing over Thanksgiving. I simply have to point out that there are no Thanksgiving songs readily available online, nor are there bright sparkly "Thanksgiving" lights that I can put all around my room. Simply put, I would be celebrating Thanksgiving more at this point if there were more popular ways to celebrate it in advance. I suppose I could post something every day that I'm thankful for. Yes, that will do nicely for the moment. Today I am most thankful for my friends who have all provided me with such fond memories!

Email!

I just sent my friend Jessica the craziest email EVER! (Jess is the one all the way on the right... I am the crazy short one on the left, and Michelle, my roommate, is the tall hot platinum blonde haired one in the middle!) So anyways, Jess finally emailed me a decent-lengthed one, which she hasn't done in like, forever... so I just HAD to write her back. And mine was crazy good! Yeah! I am so hongry, so I think I'm going to eat some dinner any minute now. So perhaps I'll update again later tonight to let you all know what's happenin! And what I ate for dinner! Peace out!

UPDATE: For dinner I had some delicious chicken cordon-bleu, some more broccoli that was again, steamed to perfection, and some strange-tasting mushroom pasta. Then for dessert, I had some chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and some hot chocolate! It was tres yummy. Michelle and I were actually talking about how cool it would be if we could speak another language... French or Italian would be awesome. I've never been inclined to learn Spanish... I don't know why. Okay, that's enough for THIS update... more insanity later!

Rantings of a Rant Woman

I'm ranting. I just thought I should warn you before you read any further. Just stop. Don't continue. Why are you continuing? "Why'd you put it on?" (From Secret Window... Johnny Depp creeps me out!) So in my rantings, I just thought I'd let you know that I had some spaghetti for dinner, and it was pretty good. And I thought I'd stick with the H2O since milk gives me weird dreams. Did you know that? Not about me in particular, but in general. Dairy food such as ice cream, milk, yogurt, other dairy foods... they all make you have weird romantic type dreams if you eat them before going to bed. So that's what we talked about at dinner, and then I came home and Michelle's friend Brittany called... and she left a message about somebody who was a feminist and it was John Adam's wife, Abigail. You know, the international language: LOVE! I know this post makes zero sense, but maybe after a couple years of reading stuff that just flows like Michelle's hair, you'll get used to it. I have. This should be a cake walk, or at least a sbu-walk. If you know not of that which I speak, you definitely are missin' out. You need to visit www.homestarrunner.com. It is TOP NOTCH. Now I definitely need to go do some chemistry homework, but we all know that's not going to happen, no matter how hard I try. Like pie in the sky. Like a kite. KEY LIME PIE! Holy cow, my friend April in my sorority is perhaps the funniest Southerner I've ever met. She kills me... she's like 20 and thinks she has menopause. She is just freakin' hilarious. And then there's Ashton, and she's amazing too because she loves Michael Buble just as much as I do. And that's sayin' something. Michelle hates him... well she doesn't hate him, but she gets slightly TO'd at the way I listen to him all de tim. Except not all the time, because I'm not listening to him right now, or now, or now. Or yesterday. Tomorrow I probably will. Hey, Bad B is tryin' to talk to me, so I'm gonna get that call/instant message. Peace Out!

It's a lie...

You Are 50% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too freakin' weird to do anything about it!

Utah State University

Hey my blogger fans! I just thought I'd let you all know I'm chillin with my good friends Jessica and Jodi up here at Utah State University. We're all having a blast, and I've already laughed so much that I'm going to have super strong abdominals by tomorrow morning at the latest. I don't even need the ab-abber 2000 anymore... psh. I'm gonna throw that blasted sharpie away with the ease of a thousandaire asap.

Things are going good in general. I think I just might be able to raise all my grades enough to keep my scholarship with at least another test in chemistry and calculus III. And then there's always the finals that could make or break me. Let's pray is the former rather than the latter. I would really like to continue my education as an adult that's not swimming in debt by the time she earns her Bachelor's degree. Then there would be all those medical school fees to worry about... but that's another worry all together.

I guess I should go get ready for the day... I woke up at the crack of noon, so I'm still in my pjs like usual. And I'm kinda hongry. So I might go try to discover what kinds of eats they have up here in Logan. Or I might just raid Jess's pantry.

Keep it real,
Brookie
